This three-act play, written in 1926, depicts the conflict that arises within a conventional upper-middle-class household when the only son of the family marries a glamorous divorcée. It had a successful first run in New York in 1925 and then opened in London in 1926. It has been revived several times since and made into a film twicein 1928 and 2008. Sir Noël Peirce Coward (18991973) was an English playwright, composer, director, actor, and singer, known for his wit, flamboyance, and what Time magazine called "a sense of personal style, a combination of cheek and chic, pose and poise". 'Easy Virtue' was his 15th play, written in 1926 when he was just 25 years old. Our book is a 1st edition, 2nd impression copy (printed just 2 months after the 1st issue), in a somewhat battered condition externally (pasted label on front rather worn, and that on the spine almost illegible; bumped corners; rubbed edges & angles; shelf wear to top & tail of spine; one blotch on front cover).
