The piece was handmade and hand decorated by Eusebio Diaz Costa in Catalonia, Spain during the 1950s or 1960s, with his characteristic 'CD' signature on the front of the design. Eusebio Díaz Costa (Girona, 1908-1964) was a ceramicist and painter who was a disciple of Joan Colombo. Originally a landscape painter, from 1950 he dedicated himself to the production of artistic ceramics, inspired by traditional Catalan forms. He has works in the Museum of Modern Art in Barcelona. His work was awarded at the Venice Biennale (1941) and at the International Exhibition of Cannes (1955). The colours are vibrant and glazes are in very good condition with a slight crackle as shown in the photos. A hand painted floral design with a lustre rim and initials CD under the design. A decorative addition to any pottery or ceramic collection. The original label for the vase and a card (see photograph) are included with this sale. A great piece for the ceramic artist collector.
