The first volume of this title, published in 1947, proved such a success that the Society of Industrial Artists decided to issue a second, to complement the first and show to the world how British designers had progressed over the intervening two years. The plan was to add a new volume every 2 years, to provide a permanent reference library which could be consulted by artists and industrialists well into the future. The main sections of the book are 'Design for Industry', comprising all kinds of domestic and industrial equipment, and 'Design for Marketing and Publishing', dealing with every aspect of printed materials, from booklets, jacket design and magazine layout, to packaging and greetings cards. The book simply presents the best examples of all these, in 291 pages of monochrome photographs. Our copy is in very nice condition, its lightly-worn (and unclipped) dust jacket protected by a fairly heavy plastic outer sleeve, and showing only minor defects such as slight chips to top
