Picture book. Text (in German) on verso, illustrations on recto. Seven illustrations - beautifully and subtly coloured. Wandelbar had always been unusual. He wanted to be a wild hunter, but he had a crippled leg and his wings were too short - but his feathers were beautiful: they shimmered like purple foam and the down on his breast was like a pearl bodice... Slim, large format hardback, with illustrated boards. Small amount of edgewear to boards and an internal repair with brown tape. Stapled text block is loose but complete and is in clean, unmarked condition apart from gift inscription at top of title page (dated Christmas 1945). English translation by a previous owner is laid in.
