A collection of original WW2 letters written to a serving ack ack gummer by his ATS fiancée, his mother and other members of his extended family. Ray met his fiancée Kathleen (Kay) when they were serving in an anti-aircraft battery and searchlight battery respectively. They were posted all over South East England and kept in touch by mail. Over 100 of the letters survive and cover the period of the couples courtship, marriage, the birth of their first child, Rays inclusion in the British Army on the Rhine and his eventual demobilisation at the beginning of 1946.
