This volume of essays is the outcome of the activities of a small group of Cambridge scientists interested in problems of behaviour in animals and man. Its membership comprises for the most part workers in comparative zoology and experimental psychology and one of its principal objects has been to bridge the gap which has hitherto divided the two approaches to the study of animal behaviour. Each essay was originally presented to the group as an account of work which its author regarded as in some way important to the study of behaviour in general. After full discussion by the group, the essays were revised by the authors and brought together as an edited survey of current problems. It is arranged in four sections: neural mechanisms and behaviour; experimental studies of animal behaviour; studies of problems common to the psychology of animals and man; and theoretical approaches to behaviour. The Editors have contributed short introductions to the separate sections. Hardback book with i
