The Chocolate Block is a cult favouriteit usually sells out before it even hits the shop floor. And now it's available as a gift-worthy twin pack so that everyone can try some. Its made by Boekenhoutskloof, named South Africas Winery of the Year 2020. Their winemaker, Marc Kent, is secretive about exactly how this wine is made. He tweaks the blend with every vintage, so no two Chocolate Blocks are quite the same. But its always a blend of bold varieties: Syrah, Grenache, Cinsault, Cabernet Sauvignonwith a touch of Viognier for added perfume. Its seriously plush and full of plum, blackberry, blueberry and cherry flavours. Smooth and supple, with fine tanninsits made to go with food. Fantastic with aromatic lamb tagine.
