Ceramic decoration in architecture is as old as monumental architecture itself, Copper turquoise blue tiles glazed tiles were used in Egypt already in the fourth millennium B. C ., and the earliest figuratively decorated tiles were recorded from the throne room of the palace of Ramases11 (19th Dynasty, about 1180 B.C.) in Medinat Habu, now in the Egyptian Museum in Cairo, give an idea of the highly developed technique of low relief, coloured faience tilework.
