A collection of images by Raghubir Singh, focusing on the city of Calcutta, India. Singh (19421999) was a self-taught Indian photographer, best known for his documentary-style, small-format street photography of the people of India. He was influenced by Henri Cartier-Bresson, whom he met in 1966, and Robert Frank, but unlike them, he chose to work in colour-colour being intrinsic to Indian aesthetics. Photographs by Raghubir Singh; essay by R.P. Gupta." A beautiful book for the coffee table and for dreams of travelling! This copy is complete with dust jacket which does, however, show signs of wear.
