The books are in good condition, the binding is sound and pages are clean. The covers are slightly faded and rubbed at the edges and along the spine. The page edges are slightly tanned and foxed. This series of books aims to show pictorially, the progress of the British motor car from the turn of the century right up to the present day. Many manufacturers started the century with cars which were excellent for their time but, owing in many cases to development on wrong lines or to other causes, ceased to exist. Others who weathered the early storms were beaten by the depression of the Thirties and the recent years of amalgamations and take-overs have accounted for the loss of some fine old names. The evolution of the 1962 car can be shown, therefore, only by the firms which have survived the setbacks and are still in business today, and only the cars of these firms are illustrated in our books.
