A delightful 20th century watercolour from artist David Addey depicting a boatbuilding scene in Christchurch, Dorset, England. Wonderfully detailed and composed, Addey has captured the light and shade of an early morning in his instantly recognisable style. This particular composition was exhibited at Addey's solo exhibition at Royal Tunbridge Wells Art Club in 1974. Signed and dated by the artist. 1973. Wooden gilt frame 41cm x 52cm (slightly marked). Artwork is in good condition. Mounting shows some discolouration. Visible artwork 21cm x 33cm. From the late 1970s onwards Addey exhibited regularly in the UK, USA, Ireland and France. In 1986 he was a prize-winner in the 'Future for the Past of the Rural Heritage' international architectural drawing competition. His main interest is in marine subjects and landscape painting.
