Bevis - The Story Of A Boy. Richard Jeffries. Jonathan Cape, London. 4th Impression 1951 (originally published in 1932). 519pp. Hardback, with dust jacket, in Good condition overall for it 70+ years as a much used children's story book (book itself has green covers with a campfire picture in maroon on the front, and red titling on the front and spine ; the end papers have a map of the story's location, and that and other illustrations in the book are by the famous Winnie The Pooh illustrator, E.H. Shepherd ; there are some minor foxing spots on the end papers, and the pages are lightly tanned. The title page has a 'First Prize' certificate awarded to Peter Bolter, Dec 1953, on it. The dust jacket is still complete, though faded and showing wear marks and some foxing spots ; it also has some small tears at the corners and top and bottom of the spine, and a crease along the inside flap at the end of the book ; the covers are cream with titling in red and black, and a b/w line drawing of
