This hardback new and enlarged edition was published in 1927 by McClelland & Stewart Ltd. The volume is in a fair, used condition. There is no dustjacket. There is wear and discolouration to the green cloth boards. There has been a repair to the hinge of the spine and front cover using tape. The spine is also faded and worn at the head and foot. Internally, the binding is cracked and the first few pages are becoming loose. The pages are also spotted. There is a dedication on the first endpaper dated 1929 and a previous owner's name on a following page. However, the volume is intact and there are some beautiful colour plates by J Nicholson, including the frontispiece which is complete with its tissue guard. The author dedicated the book to George Thorndike Angell who was President of The American Humane Education Society and The Massachusetts Society For The Prevention Of Cruelty To Animals.
