The architect João Mendes Ribeiro presented his best interventions in stage spaces under the project Architectures on Stage. The proposal represented Portugal at the Prague Quadrennial and won the Gold Medal in the category of Best Stage Design. Architectures on Stage is approached as a reflection of the contemporary spirit of hybridation between different disciplines such as architecture and stage design. Structured into two parts, the show is organised according to two major theoretical conceptions: stage design as architectural representation and the space as an extension of the human body. These premises are illustrated by means of photographs, designs and concepts obtained from the stage sets of different spectacles. The materials are transported in suitcases-tables that in turn serve as a support for the content and form part of the display space.
