Antique c1800 Long-Handled Dutch Waffle Iron, Ornate Brass Plates with Mythical Bird & Geometric Motif A rare and beautifully preserved antique Dutch waffle iron dating back to the early 19th century, circa 1800. This crafted, long-handled iron features two ornate brass-faced plates designed for hearthside baking. One plate showcases an intricately detailed mythical bird motif, possibly a stylized rooster or phoenix, surrounded by elegant foliate scrollwork, possibly symbolizing vigilance or good fortune in Dutch folk tradition. The opposite plate features a geometric diamond lattice design with small floral accents, a pattern commonly associated with traditional Dutch stroopwafels, early European waffle and wafer irons. Construction: Solid cast iron frame with brass-embossed plates, paired with long hand-forged iron handles, ideal for use over a hearth or fireplace. Crafted with hand-forged wrought iron handles, this piece was designed for open-fire use, a hallmark of early Europe
