A beautiful Antique piece of Spongeware, great for the eclectic cottage gore kitchen. Rim line and four flowers in red, floral sponge print decoration, green foliage and print flowers in blue. No chips or cracks but signs of ware normal for age. Slight discolouration near flower but looks more as if colour bleed. Width: 24 cm Depth: 5 cm Unmarked to the base with a small raised foot to the shallow bowl. Similar pattern and size of bowl identified amongst a number of British potteries for export to also be produced from the Glasgow pottery of J. & M.P. Bell & Co (Kelly & Kowalsky, 2001).
