Amorphous Metallic Alloys : LAP Lambert Academic Publishing : 9786202518758 : 6202518758 : 10 Apr 2020 : Amorphous metallic alloys or bulk metallic glasses (BMGs) are alloys without long-range lattice atomic packing, which are different from the normal crystalline metals. Because of their special structures, such as the absence of dislocations, BMGs have some excellent properties including high strength, high hardness, and good corrosion resistance. Due to their special deformation mechanism, a high elastic strain limit is an important advantage for BMGs as structural materials which can reach 1.8%while it is only around 0.2% for normal crystalline alloys. The research work explores the effects of cobalt on the formation of amorphous structure in the zirconia-based alloys, prepared from the vacuum melt spinning machine (ribbon form). X-ray diffraction (XRD) and differential scanning calorimetry are used to investigate novel alloys.
