You might expect a book that is titled 'Colour' to be a bit more . . . colourful. But in then hands of renowned stylist and interior designer Abigail Ahern colour is probably better categorised as Not White, Not Magnolia and Not Beige. Ahern is one of the people who first brought the style of painting interior walls a dark colour to the public consciousness. One of the tips that she issues in this book is "Paint a wall in a colour that scares you . . . " but also advises that you go for the second or third coat before you decide that it was a bad decision as just one coat of a dark coloured paint can look "really bad". The book covers different rooms in the house, from entrance hallways to kitchens and dining rooms and how to balance the colours that you are bringing in to any of these rooms.
