Sir Cecil Maurice Bowra, CH, FBA (18981971) was an English classical scholar, literary critic and academic, known for his wit. He was Warden of Wadham College, Oxford, (1938-1970), Professor of Poetry at Oxford (1946-1951), and served as vice-chancellor of the University (1951-1954). Our book is in good condition, still with its unclipped dust jacket, protected in a mylar sleeve, and showing signs of wear & use (a mended tear to the top rear corner/fold, some brown staining to the top edge, and a generally 'tired' air).
