'A Pilgrimage of Dreams' by Thetis Blacker. Published by Turnstone Books Ltd. First Edition. 1973. pp. xviii+164. 'Thetis Blacker's life, more than most, has been a pilgrimage. She studied singing, and sang for a number of years at Glyndebourne. The pull of painting, however, was stronger; she had studied drawing with Brenda Campbell-Taylor and continued this at the Chelsea School of Art. The suggestion was made at a showing of her work that she was much influenced by Peruvian art. Knowing nothing of South America, on her first visit she found it strangely familiar. As a Churchill Fellow she visited Indonesia and South-East Asia, where she improved her technique of batik painting. Miss Blacker's symbolic themes thus encompass archetypes from both East and West.' Condition: Fair. Sun-bleached, creased spine. General shelf-wear. Top-fore-edge corner bent and creased lightly. General discolouration.
