In 1963, Munich celebrated Fasching, the German carnival season, with various festivities, including a ball at the Haus der Kunst. A poster from that year depicts a couple on a tandem bike, adorned with festive attire and objects, promoting the spirit of fun and rule-breaking characteristic of Fasching. The Mayor of Munich, Thomas Wimmer, officially opened the carnival, handing the "golden key" to the Prince and Princess of the Munich Carnival, marking the start of 54 days of festivities with around 3000 events.
