Scientific name: philodendron erubescens (blushing tree-hugger) var. 'Painted lady' common name: painted lady philodendron. Origin: tropical areas of south/central america. A hybrid philodendron, created by plant breeder robert h. Mccolley in the 90's, the 'painted' leaves on this philodendron are a beautiful mix of the two parent plants philodendrons: p. Erubescens and p. Erubescens 'emerald queen'. An ideal plant if your plant collection is looking too green and you want to add some bright interest! Light: place in moderate to bright indirect light. Avoid direct sunlight as this can scorch the leaves. Water: allow the top two inches of soil to dry out in between waterings (these plants are easy-going so if you wait a little longer to water don't panic!). Humidity: appreciates above average humidity, but will do just fine in most standard household humidity. Will appreciate an occasional misting, especially if in a dryer spot.
