Some ideas arrive fully formed. Gabriela Trzebinski is an artist friend, and erstwhile employee, of Black Bough and a year ago I saw that she had wrapped a present in some paper that she had decorated with this checked ink design. Together we then set about reproducing that design in three different colours. The design is printed on 100% recycled 100gsm paper and folds crisply and provides good opaque coverage. It isn't a repeat pattern; the whole sheet of paper contains variations in line and weight and areas where the ink bled on the original artwork. The wrap looks great on its own but equally could take a contrasting ribbon decoration. Gabriela Trzebinski is an artist who works in various media from paint to drawing and film. She grew up in Kenya, went to Byam Shaw Art School and then had a studio at Great Western Studios before moving to Houston in 2006.
