On January 12, 2018, Justice Ranjan Gogoi and three other judges came out of the Supreme Court of India, convened a press meet and alleged that democracy was not safe in the hand of the then Chief Justice of India, Dipak Misra, They disclosed that 'many things that were less than desirable were happening in the Supreme Court of India and unless that institution is saved, democracy would not survive in India.
