Folding map of South-Western China showing the journeys of Alexander Hosie, black and white photographic frontispiece with tissue-guard and 6 illustrations, xxxiv + 302pp, index, 4 pages of publisher's adverts. Decorated blue cloth covered boards with a design representing the sacred Mountain of O-mei, copied from a native drawing belonging to the author and lettered in silver. 22 x14.5cm. Christmas inscription dated 1894 verso frontispiece, inner hinges split but holding firm, general overall wear with wear to head and tail of spine, but a very good copy. Cordier I: 353. Describes the travels undertaken by Alexander Hosie during his tenure as British consular agent in Chungkiung, from 1882-1884. Includes references and a note on opium cultivation in China and India.
