One of a series of "Mother Stories" from this publisher issued around the turn of the 20th century, this one contains 48 very short (2-3 page) stories for children, with 86 lovely duotone engravings throughout the 96 pages (artist unattributed). A First Edition from 1909, this hardcover octavo (6.5" x 8") has gray cloth over boards decorated in the center in green red & black & black lettering to spine. Edges show rubbing & fading all around. Condition is Good: generally quite clean, with random smudges & spots. Binding secure, but a bit shaken; all pages intact & creamy white, with age-appropriate tanning to edges, but unmarked. No DJ.
