Hardcovers. Two volume set; containing Part First and Part Second. V1: (1866) ; V2: (1868). A total of 836 pages in the two volumes. Complete. Filled with illustrations & maps. All maps are present, including the color fold-out map of the southern states in V1. They are Ex-Library copies, but the only marking is a library bookplate on the front pastedown of each volume (which could probably be removed with proper treatment). No other library markings. Quarter-bound in leather over pebbled cloth. The leather is worn at the corners and spine extremities. Some rubbed wear along the spines, but the gilt lettering quite readable. There is ~1-1/4" loss of leather at the spine tail of V1. The leather is cracked along the spine edges, but the hinges are still strong (well-made, cloth-reinforced hinges). A 1/2" worn spot on the cloth of the front board of V2. Else the pebbled cloth is somewhat rubbed, with a bit of fading, but overall fairly clean. The page edges are age-darkened. A bit of ligh
