Map. Engraving. Image measures 11.25" x 7.5" . This is a scarce 1782 edition of Alexander Hoggs map of Ireland. Features Ireland in its entirety and identifies the four provinces. Beautifully detailed, it notes rivers, towns, islands, bays, coastal features, lakes, and several other topographical and geographical features. A decorative title cartouche featuring a ship and barrels is included in the lower right quadrant. This map was issued in George Henry Millar's "New Complete Universal System of Geography." Curiously, this particular edition of the map does not include the illustrations in the lower margin of a canon and a bascinet, making this a unique edition. The map is in good condition with minor toning in the top right quadrant. Original platemark visible. Alexander Hogg (1735 - 1796) was a British book, map, and print publisher based in London.
